I incorporate and explain elements of neuroscience with other aspects such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), within a person centred based approach. Therapy may also include elements of body based/somatic interventions and other holistic wellbeing therapies if desired or appropriate.
My therapeutic approach is one that blends traditional psychotherapeutic theories with up to the minute, evidence based techniques that are relatable, humanistic and compassionate. Experience, knowledge and training shows that one size doesn’t fit all, so my approach will fit with each individuals needs, providing a flexibility in approach and interventions
I offer outdoor therapy/ walk and talk as this can often complement the therapeutic process and offers an interesting alternative to the more traditional face to face therapy methods. Being outdoors for therapy can work as a natural extension of the therapeutic process and potentially increase its effectiveness. This is always pre-arranged and planned so that you are totally comfortable in the process. This more relaxed therapeutic approach often empowers you to talk more freely and easily. This has indeed been found in the case of teenagers and young people.
My approach is also trauma informed in that I am not making the judgement “what’s wrong with you?”. I will help you look at the survival strategies and belief systems you have adopted in response to your lived experiences both as a child and as an adult in the here and now.
I will hear how your thoughts, feelings and body are responding to any issues you are wanting to address and work with you using various techniques, strategies and skills that fit you as the unique individual you are.
